On the left, almost continuing the line of the part, the hair sweeps down steeply over the forehead. Grazing the eyebrow and passing the eye without touching, it follows the cheek and jaw in a long, face-narrowing curve that tapers away beneath the chin. The bangs opposite, on the right and wider side of the part, are quite different. Here the front section is lifted slightly to expose the hair line and travels sideways in a brief, shallow descent. Then it curves to create a steeper angle down the forehead, grazing the very tip of the eyebrow like its counterpart on the left; but rather than continuing down, it now changes direction outwards. Crossing the line of the cheek just below eye level and wrapping the top of the ear, it sweeps gracefully round the side of the head. A long, slender lock of hair runs down from in front of the ear, sweeping out away from the jaw and chin and finally bending in to the throat. By mirroring the face-narrowing curve on the left it strengthens the notion of facial symmetry, though that symmetry has been shifted to one side. The length of the hair is gathered at the back and from the front remains largely unseen, but for a hint of tousled, curly movement at the neck.
