One of the best is the middle photo in the bottom row. It's the same layered cut we saw in the last picture in the gallery, but this style is worn loose and medium length, parted off center, and rounds her forehead nicely.
The front layers flick outwards as they approach her eyes so that her face seems wider at the midline, where it should be. Then all the bulk is pulled right away from her cheeks, which taper that little bit more than usual because Ashlee has lowered her chin for the camera.
Compare this with the picture of Ashlee Simpson's red brown bob hairstyle, and again it's hard to believe you're looking at the same woman.
Some Ashlee Simpson pictures of hair almost win through to beauty, like the fourth picture in the top row. The elements of an oval are there, but the underlying straight, long profile still rises to the surface.

This layered hair sits very oddly indeed on her shoulders, but without the extra length her haircut would retreat to the bob - straight in its lines and square in its profile.

One style that's really clever is the half up, half down hairdo in the top row's second picture.
This formal hair style builds a pleasantly round shape at the top that extends out to the ears, so that the lower half Ashlee's face seems thinner by association and the whole shape appears oval. The straight line across her forehead, created by pulling the hair up and back, merges gracefully into the perceived roundness of the whole.
Not clever is the first picture in the middle row, another of those Ashlee Simpson pictures of hair that shouldn't be. Her face is like a pudding bowl on its side, jammed into the shiny black mass of her hair.
Though good and bad looks alternate throughout these Ashlee Simpson pictures of hair, it's only the basics that make the difference. The same elements are at play in every picture.
