You can't bring out Keira Knightley's beauty by whacking a short spiky hair cut on top of her head but incredibly, that's precisely what some idiot's tried to do in four of these Keira Knightley short hair photos. Look at the third photo in the top row, and the second and fifth photos in the middle row. These are horrible Keira Knightley short hair photos. In the third photo Keira's jaw stands out, literally, and the long, long line of her cheek. In all three Keira's hair completely dominates her image, drawing the viewer's gaze up and away from her eyes. To what? To a spiky jumble that has no purpose other than to irritate, and to make Keira Knightley's face seem even longer than it is. This absurd spikiness is at least reduced in the fourth of these awful pictures, the gallery's very first photo. But here the top-heavy short hair style, with an ill-chosen camera angle and unfortunate lighting, makes Keira Knightley look more like a bad-tempered and anorexic Jamie Lee Curtis. All four of these Keira Knightley short hair photos draw a line across her face at the heavily shadowed eyes. Everything below the line is discounted, de-emphasized. They seem to think that if Keira Knightley's hair looks trendy enough, the lower half of her face can look after itself. It doesn't work. You can't divide a woman's face in half, aesthetically, and treat the top and bottom as if they're unrelated. Der ... Compare, if you will, two different short hair styles in this same gallery - the short hair style featured in those photos where Keira wears a fur-collared jacket, and the style in the pictures where she has a brown top with a necklace on the outside. These hair cuts don't extend the length of Keira's face or raise the height of her head. Nor do they compete for attention with her face. Instead, they integrate her short hair into her total image, drawing full attention to her best features and playing down less helpful elements, like her tall, wide forehead and long cheeks. Different again, but also successful, is the hair style in the top row's last photo. This Keira Knightley short hair cut is tousled, and it's decidedly sexy in the way it falls across her eyes. This flattering look is almost reproduced in the first photo of the bottom row, but this hair style falls short of the mark. Why? Because like the spiky dos, this haircut treats Keira Knightley's face as distinct top and bottom sections. Her eyes again are darkly edged, her hair stops above them, and her face is thrown out of balance. The fourth photo in the same row shows a style which, though almost identical, looks much prettier. The difference isn't in the style, but in the lighting and camera angle which, between them, completely alter the perceived outline of Keira Knightley's face. You can't really see the shape of her jaw because its tones merge into those of her throat. The camera lens is just above Keira's eye level, shortening her cheeks. And the mouth helps. The open lips create just the dab of shadow needed to balance the darkness of her eyes. It's always good to finish on a happy note, and the gallery's last Keira Knightley short hair photo is a really gorgeous shot. This picture shows how easily a woman's hair can complement her face. The flirtatious, sexy look is pure Keira Knightley. All her hair style needs to do is hide the flaws, and highlight the good bits. Which is pretty much what any hair style should do for any woman, celebrity or not, short hair or long.
