All About Rachel MelvinRachel Melvin was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, on 9 February 1985.She won a full scholarship to study interior design at Arizona State University, but abandoned that course when fate took a hand in her career. The day before Arizona raised its gambling age to 21, she won $600 at a casino. Rachel saw the win as an omen and headed for Los Angeles, where she and a cousin roomed together. Between acting classes, Rachel cut her Hollywood teeth on commercials, in guest appearances on TV series like ABC's 8 Simple Rules (formerly 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter), Summerland and Jack and Bobby. She also appeared as Georgia LaMarque, a French girl, in NBC's daytime soap opera Days of our Lives In 2005 she played a character named Meg in the independent horror film Boo!. She's recently landed another movie role in the comedy murder mystery Legacy, which also stars Haylie Duff and Tom Green. Rachel's character in Legacy is called Julie. Since May 2005 Rachel Melvin has played the role of troubled teenager Chelsea Benson on the NBC soap opera Days of our Lives. It took her two goes to get that role - she auditioned for Chelsea, and missed out, in 2004. Though best known as Chelsea Benson, Rachel is becoming equally famous for the appearance she made, with her dog Murphy, on Jay Leno's Pumpcam. Rachel was a choreographer with the the Mountain Pointe Dance Company and a violinist with the Southwest Valley Youth Orchestra. She sings, plays electric violin, works for animal and diabetes charities, and wants to write a children's book. As an actor she looks to Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp for her inspiration. She has an older sister named Jessica.
