Like most celebrity women, Sarah Jessica Parker has done terrible things to her hair in the name of fashion, fame and supposed glamour.

And that, after all, is what's for sale.

Other pictures in the gallery show Sarah Jessica Parker at awards ceremonies, premieres, red carpet events. Her hair on these occasions is handled with varying degrees of failure.

In the second picture of the middle row she's almost attractive.

In the middle picture of the bottom row she looks gaunt and haggard with her hair pulled back.

Armed with a completely different hair style in the top row, fourth picture, she still looks gaunt and haggard.

At the start of the bottom row she's beyond help, like an old woman dressed to fool no-one but herself. Covered in powder and plastered in lipstick, she's trying to get away with a hair style that maybe, just maybe, a schoolgirl could have carried off forty years ago.

It's obvious that someone knows the hair style rules for Sarah Jessica Parker's face, because you see the results in studio pictures, carefully staged by photographers and stylists who are paid to create illusions.

Couched in soft, voluminous curls and with the camera pointing down, Sarah Jessica Parker's face appears much smaller than it really is. It even looks oval. Her hair is doing all that can be asked of it, given the material it has to work with.
